CAN International Network Members COP 12

SACAN is a national node of the CAN international, a worldwide network of over 365 NGOs. CAN members work to achieve this goal through the coordination of information exchange and NGO strategy on international, regional and national climate issues. CAN has seven regional offices which co-ordinate these efforts in Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, Europe, Latin America, North America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

SACAN is also part of the regional groupings 'CAN South', which includes CAN members from developing countries, and 'CAN Africa' which links CAN members in Africa. SACAN has also been active in initiating the Southern African Regional Climate Action Network (SARCAN), and is currently serving as the regional node for CAN members in the SADC region.

As part of CAN, SACAN has many international links in both North and South and the co-ordinator serves on the board of CAN. SACAN members engage actively on several international e-mail list-serves such as 'CAN-Talk', which is where the main body of interaction within CAN international takes place. Members also interact on various issue-specific lists including Gender and climate change, Adaptation, Technology Transfer, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI).
